Review, Approve and Remove Campaign Briefs

Validate generated campaign briefs in Quick Review and the campaign briefs table, approve what fits strategy, and remove what does not before content production.

Overview

Campaign generation can produce dozens or hundreds of briefs across workspaces. Review is where quality gates live: you confirm each brief’s title, angle, audience, funnel stage, pillar, channel, planned date, and—when shown—source evidence aligns with the campaign strategy before writers or AI spend effort on full drafts.

CntX offers multiple review surfaces that stay synchronized:

  • Quick Review — a focused queue for briefs needing decision, often linked from Home or campaign detail when validation is the priority action.
  • Campaign briefs table — paginated list (fifteen briefs per page) with filters by workspace, channel, and status, row actions, optional expand for detail, and bulk selection on the current page.
  • Workspace Calendar — campaign layer shows dated items in editorial context next to evergreen planning; useful for spotting capacity clusters on specific weeks.

Approving a brief typically moves it toward ready for writer or equivalent approved editorial state and may commit capacity reservations on that week. Removing or dismissing a brief frees the slot and drops provisional reservations—important when campaign volume overwhelmed channel reality.

When to use

Review campaign briefs when:

  • Plan generation completed and briefs sit in needs review or draft review states.
  • Home surfaces Quick Review or campaign validation cards.
  • Stakeholders signed off strategy but not individual topics—human review remains mandatory for quality.
  • You need to bulk approve a page of strong briefs or bulk remove an off-strategy cluster after filtering.

Continue reviewing until the campaign’s priority weeks are validated; do not approve everything to clear the queue if angles repeat or violate key messages.

Before you start

  • Understand key messages and objectives on the common strategy tab—use them as a reject filter.
  • Know each target workspace’s enabled channels and destinations so you do not approve briefs on dead channels.
  • Skim Understand Campaign Capacity and Calendar Conflicts if weeks look overloaded—approval commits editorial space.
  • Assign reviewers per workspace when brands have different local experts.
  • Optional: filter calendar to Campaign layer only when checking dates visually.

Steps

  1. Open Campaigns → [campaign name] and go to the Briefs or Review section, or launch Quick Review from campaign detail or Home.
  2. Apply filters in the briefs table: workspace, channel, status. Reduce noise before approving page by page.
  3. Read each brief summary—title, angle, persona or ICP, funnel stage, pillar, planned date, channel. Expand rows for full detail when available.
  4. For strong fits, choose Approve (row action or split button). Approved briefs move toward production-ready editorial status and commit capacity where policy applies.
  5. For fixable briefs, choose Edit to open the brief editor—sharpen angle, swap persona, adjust date—then approve when satisfied.
  6. For off-strategy, duplicate, or impossible briefs, choose Remove, Dismiss, or Reject depending on UI wording. Removing frees the plan slot and drops provisional reservations tied to it.
  7. Use bulk select on the current page cautiously—select-all applies to visible fifteen, not the entire campaign. Bulk approve only after scanning every selected row.
  8. Switch workspaces via filters or open the target Calendar to validate dates against local evergreen items on the same week.
  9. When priority weeks are clean, note remaining briefs for secondary reviewers or a second pass after stakeholder feedback.
  10. From an approved brief, follow Generate content or open the brief in the content workflow when ready for drafting.

Expected result

High-confidence briefs are approved with consistent metadata and realistic dates per workspace. Weak or off-strategy briefs are removed or edited, reducing wasted production. Campaign detail and Quick Review counts drop as review progresses; Home advances toward content activation cards.

Capacity reservations reflect approved briefs—weeks no longer look deceptively empty if you removed half the generated set. Remaining briefs align with key messages, pillars, and channel/destination choices from child strategies.

Tips / common issues

  • Bulk-approved mistakes — Bulk actions affect only the current page but still hurt if you did not read rows. Undo by reopening briefs if status allows revert; otherwise remove and regenerate targeted slots.
  • Same angle repeated — Editorial memory reduces but does not eliminate repeats. Reject duplicates; consider pillar or key message diversity before regenerating whole weeks.
  • Approved on wrong channel — Child strategy had channel enabled without destination. Fix strategy, remove brief, regenerate slot.
  • Quick Review empty but table full — Filters or status mapping may differ. Clear filters; confirm briefs still in needs_review.
  • Cross-workspace reviewer blocked — User lacks workspace access. Use View as admin tools only per policy, or assign local approver.
  • Calendar shows item, table does not — Refresh; pagination is client-side on campaign detail with a fetch limit (~100). Narrow filters or review by workspace calendar for tail items.
  • Removing approved briefs — Possible but may leave content items orphaned if generation already started. Prefer reject before content generation.

Next step

Generate Content From a Brief for approved priorities, or Understand Campaign Capacity and Calendar Conflicts if approval surfaced overloaded weeks.
