Create and Switch Workspaces

Separate brands, business units, or client editorial environments under one company without mixing context, calendars, or integrations.

Overview

In CntX, your company is the billing and permission boundary. Workspaces sit underneath it and isolate editorial data: context, strategy, calendar, content, campaigns, and workspace-scoped integrations.

Most day-to-day work happens inside a single active workspace. When you manage multiple brands or clients on one company account, create one workspace per editorial environment and switch between them from the sidebar.

When to use

  • You onboard a new brand, product line, or client that needs its own calendar and context.
  • You work on Pro or Business and outgrow a single editorial environment.
  • You run multi-workspace campaigns and need clearly separated execution per brand.
  • You landed in the wrong workspace and see another brand’s calendar or context.

Before you start

  • Confirm your plan allows multiple workspaces:

Plus — one workspace (shown as your default environment). – Pro — up to three workspaces. – Business — unlimited workspaces. – Agency — workspaces live on client companies; use Accounts to switch companies first.

  • Sign in with a role that can manage workspaces (ADMIN or MANAGER on Business; workspace management is available on Pro and above).
  • Know which company you are operating in—billing and user administration always sit at company level, not inside a workspace.

Steps

1. Check your active workspace

In the left sidebar, look under Workspace for the current name. Calendar items, strategy, content library, and most Context data belong to this workspace only.

If data looks wrong, you may simply be in another workspace—not a bug.

2. Switch workspace

  1. Click Workspace in the sidebar.
  2. Select another workspace from the list.
  3. Confirm the URL updates to `/workspace/{id}` and the sidebar name changes.

Company-level Settings (users, billing) stay the same after a switch; only editorial scope changes.

3. Create a workspace

  1. Open Workspace in the sidebar.
  2. Choose Create one (wording may vary by plan).
  3. Enter a clear name (brand, client, or business unit).
  4. Save and open the new workspace.

CntX routes you into the empty workspace. Follow Home → Next recommended step to run Context Discovery or manual context setup before generating calendars.

4. Edit workspace settings

From the workspace switcher, open Edit workspace to update:

  • Display name
  • Dedicated inbound email address (used for Voice of the Field and contributor routing)
  • Workspace-specific options shown in your plan

Contributor email settings and Voice of the Field routing are workspace-scoped—configure them per brand, not once at company level.

5. Use agency account switching when relevant

If you operate in Agency mode, client editorial environments live under each client company:

  1. Use Accounts at the top of the sidebar (or open `/agency`).
  2. Open the client company card.
  3. Switch workspaces inside that client context.

Your agency’s own internal workspace is separate from owned or delegated client accounts.

Expected result

  • Each brand or client has an isolated editorial environment with its own context, calendar, and integrations.
  • You can move between workspaces in seconds without changing company billing or user records.
  • Multi-workspace campaigns can target the correct workspaces without cross-contamination of briefs or content.

Tips

  • Name workspaces after the brand or client, not after a campaign—campaigns are time-bound; workspaces are durable.
  • Connect WordPress, Webflow, and analytics per workspace when destinations differ between brands.
  • On Plus, workspace management is hidden by design—you still have one editorial environment; focus on context and calendar there.
  • After creating a workspace, complete Complete Workspace Setup Readiness before heavy generation.

Next step

Invite teammates and assign workspace access, or continue setup with Invite Users and Manage Roles.
