Manage the Reactions Inbox

Triage scored reaction opportunities from Voice of Field, Media Watch, and LinkedIn/Reddit—then close the loop with briefs and status hygiene.

Overview

The Reactions inbox (Insights → Reactions, titled Reaction opportunities) is the unified queue for high-priority signals worth an editorial response. Items arrive from:

  • Voice of Field — promoted field emails with content angles.
  • Media Watch — qualified news and publication hits.
  • Social Listening — scored LinkedIn and Reddit posts.

Each row shows source macro, opportunity headline, priority score tier (high/medium/low), reaction type, status, and actions. Reactions are not a comment inbox or social media scheduler—they feed content briefs and planning decisions.

Statuses track your triage discipline:

  • New — untouched opportunity.
  • In progress — someone owns the response.
  • Done — brief created, published, or consciously answered elsewhere.
  • Dismissed — not worth acting on; suppresses noise in default views.
  • Expired — window closed (stale news or tier rules).

When to use

Open Reactions when you:

  • Run a weekly signals standup alongside calendar review.
  • Need one queue instead of checking VoF, Media Watch, and Social feeds separately.
  • Want to measure how many market opportunities became briefs or published pieces.
  • Onboard a new editor who should not parse raw feeds on day one.

Before you start

  • At least one signal source producing items (VoF mail, Media Watch scan, or social crawl).
  • Content strategy and calendar capacity for reactive briefs.
  • Team rules: who may Dismiss, who approves Create brief, SLA for New items (e.g. 48h for news).
  • Optional: contributor association complete for VoF promotions tied to specific reps.

Steps

  1. Open Insights → Reactions.
  2. Use tabs or filters:

New for fresh work. – All / In progress / Done / Dismissed / Expired for hygiene.

  1. Narrow with source filter (Voice of field, Media watch, Social) and reaction type when debugging patterns.
  2. Search by keyword, headline fragment, or source label in the search box.
  3. For each New row:

– Expand Why this is a reaction opportunity and Why this score?—confirm not a keyword-only duplicate. – Open external source link when present (article URL, social post, email context).

  1. Choose an action:

Create brief — primary path to content item (VoF and many social/media rows). – Mark In progress when investigating before briefing. – Dismiss when strategic fit is low or topic already covered this week. – Done after brief publish or explicit decision not to respond publicly.

  1. After Create brief, edit brief fields immediately—inheritance is a starting point, not final copy.
  2. Return to Reactions and advance status so teammates see accurate pipeline state.
  3. Weekly: review Dismissed and Expired for scoring calibration; adjust Media Watch sources or social watches if noise dominates.

Expected result

  • New count reflects real opportunities—not hundreds of unscored raw feeds.
  • Each acted item traces to a brief, calendar slot, or explicit dismiss reason.
  • Source macros (VoF / Media watch / Social) make reporting easy without merging unrelated networks.
  • Score tooltips document why items ranked high—useful for onboarding and post-mortems.
  • Inbox zero is not the goal; timely Done or Dismissed on high-score items is.

Tips

  • Batch triage New items at a fixed cadence—reaction windows close fast on news and LinkedIn threads.
  • Do not Dismiss low-score items in source feeds and ignore Reactions—use Reactions as the single decision log.
  • Two rows on the same story should be rare (dedupe keys)—if both appear, dismiss the weaker duplicate.
  • Create brief beats copying post text manually—source metadata and reaction angle prefill save rework.
  • VoF rows may offer Generate next for batch strategy runs—use when you defer immediate briefing.
  • Reactions inform planning; they do not auto-publish to CMS or social—editorial and CMS statuses still apply.
  • Pending contributor opportunities may appear in a separate block until association completes—resolve contributor links early.

Next step

Clear all New items older than your SLA: each should be In progress, Done, or Dismissed with owner intent. Schedule the next Media Watch scan and social crawl so the inbox stays fed without manual hunting.
