Agency, Billing & Account 4 min

Use Agency Mode

Operate a multi-client portfolio from one agency subscription—own client accounts, accept delegated mandates, and switch companies without mixing data.

Overview

Agency mode is for marketing agencies and consultancies that run CntX across many client companies. The agency holds an Agency company subscription (250 €/month) that unlocks portfolio management at `/agency` and the Accounts switcher in the sidebar.

Agency companies come in three types:

TypeWho creates itClient awarenessAgency powersLimit
Agency (own)Auto at Agency signupInternal useFull on agency tenant1 included
OwnedAgency via Create accountClient may have no loginFull owner—including deleteMax 5 owned accounts
DelegatedClient grants mandateClient keeps login and billingAdmin-like; cannot delete client companyUnlimited

Quotas for crawl, storage, and production usage live on client Business accounts, not on the agency gateway.

When to use

  • You subscribe to Agency and land on `/agency` instead of a classic workspace home.
  • You white-label operations and create client companies yourself (Owned).
  • A client on Business asks you to manage their existing tenant (Delegated).
  • You need to switch between your agency workspace and a client editorial environment.

Before you start

  • Confirm Agency subscription is active on your company.
  • Decide per client: Owned (you operate silently) vs Delegated (client stays account holder).
  • For delegated flows, obtain the client’s consent before requesting or accepting a mandate.
  • Keep client brands in separate companies—never merge client context into the agency company workspace.

Steps

1. Open the agency hub

  1. Sign in with an Agency plan user.
  2. Navigate to Accounts in the sidebar or open `/agency`.
  3. Review cards for each linked company: status, users, workspaces, content counts.

First visit may redirect you here automatically—this is expected Agency home behavior.

2. Use your agency’s own company (internal)

Your Agency subscription includes one Agency (own) company for internal marketing:

  1. Open it from the hub like any other card.
  2. Create workspaces for your agency brand only.
  3. Do not use this tenant for client deliverables.

3. Create an owned client account

  1. On `/agency`, click Create account (shows count toward 5 max).
  2. Enter client company name and website.
  3. Provision workspaces and run Context Discovery as you would for any new Business tenant.
  4. Optionally omit client logins if they should not access CntX directly.

You are full owner and may delete the company when the engagement ends.

4. Accept or propose delegated management

Client-initiated (mandate):

  1. Client admin opens Settings → Agency-delegated management.
  2. Client searches your agency (exact ID, name, or manager email).
  3. Client accepts mandate terms and sends the request.
  4. You see a New delegation request banner on `/agency`.
  5. Accept the mandate checkbox and confirm.

Agency-initiated (proposal):

  1. On `/agency`, use Account management proposal.
  2. Enter the client contact email.
  3. Client receives instructions to approve delegation on their side.

After acceptance, status shows ACCEPTED; you act as ADMIN inside their company without owning their Stripe subscription.

5. Switch into a client company

  1. From `/agency`, click View on the client card.
  2. Confirm the sidebar reflects the client context (banner or URL parameter).
  3. Use Workspace inside that company for editorial work.
  4. Use Accounts or Back to accounts to return to the hub.

6. Revoke or end relationships

  • Delegated — either party can Revoke; the client keeps data and subscription.
  • Owned — agency admin can Delete the company (irreversible).

Never delete a delegated client account—delegation rules block this by design.

Expected result

  • Portfolio visible on `/agency` with clear badges (Owned, Delegated, pending requests).
  • Client data isolated per company; switching contexts never mixes calendars or context.
  • Delegated clients retain billing ownership; owned clients are fully operated by the agency.

Tips

  • Prefer Delegated when the client must retain subscription control and visibility.
  • Use Owned for retainers where the client does not need a login—stay within the five-account cap or ask support about portfolio scale.
  • Configure WordPress and analytics inside each client workspace, not on the agency gateway.
  • When answering Home pre-onboarding questions in a client context, you qualify their workspace—not your agency source account.
