Use the Content Editor
Refine AI-generated or blank drafts in one workspace—edit copy, SEO, metadata, and editorial status before CMS publish.
Overview
The content editor is where briefs become publishable assets. Open it from the calendar (Open editor), the Contents list, or Home recommended actions. The editor shows the full draft: headline, intro, structured body, SEO fields, audience tags, and channel-specific options.
Two status controls sit prominently in the header:
- Editorial status — Your internal workflow (`Draft` → `In progress` → `In review` → `Approved` → `Published in CntX`).
- CMS status — Sync state with WordPress or Webflow (`Not synced`, `CMS draft`, `CMS published`, etc.).
The primary header button adapts to editorial status: Submit for review, Approve, Publish, or Republish. Publishing to a CMS while editorial status is not Approved triggers a confirmation warning—by design.
When to use
- A draft was just generated from an approved brief.
- You are writing or pasting copy for a manual or from-scratch item.
- A reviewer needs to read, comment, and change editorial status.
- You are preparing SEO metadata before approval and CMS push.
Before you start
- Know the linked brief (open the brief panel or summary if available)—the draft should serve that plan.
- Confirm you are in the correct workspace; content items do not cross workspaces.
- Connect WordPress or Webflow first if you plan to publish from the editor in the same session.
Steps
- Open the content item from Calendar (next action Open editor), Contents, or search.
- Review the brief summary sidebar or header chip—title, persona, pillar, and planned date should align with what you edit.
- Edit core fields:
– Title and display headline – Intro (chapeau) and body blocks – SEO title, meta description, and target keywords when shown – Audience, funnel, and taxonomy tags as needed
- Use AI assist actions in the editor (rewrite, expand, tone adjust) sparingly—manual edits may mark content as protected from blind batch regeneration.
- Update Editorial status as you work:
– In progress while drafting – In review when ready for a approver
- Approvers set Approved after quality review—or Rejected to send back.
- When editorial status is Approved, use Publish to push to the connected CMS as draft or live, depending on the integration dialog.
- Check CMS status after publish; retry if CMS failed.
Expected result
- Copy matches brand voice, brief intent, and channel format.
- Editorial status reflects where the piece sits in your review pipeline.
- CMS status updates independently when you publish—without overwriting editorial workflow state.
- The calendar next action advances toward Publish or View publication.
Tips
- Brief link — If the draft drifted from the brief, fix the brief on the calendar or the draft—not both inconsistently.
- Two statuses in the header — Do not assume CMS published means editorially approved; align both before handoff to marketing ops.
- Submit for review — Use when writers should not self-approve; keeps accountability in In review.
- Republish — Editorial Published in CntX supports updates to live CMS posts without resetting the whole workflow.
- Archived — Retire outdated pieces instead of deleting if you need audit history.
