Set Up Your Brand Platform and Guidelines

Define how your brand sounds and looks under Context so every brief, draft, and campaign inherits the right tone—not a generic AI voice.

Overview

CntX splits brand identity into two complementary areas under Context:

Brand Platform (`Context → Brand Platform`) captures strategic and verbal identity: vision, mission, positioning, values, value proposition, tone of voice, and preferred or forbidden words. This is what generation reads when choosing how to argue, persuade, and phrase ideas. It directly feeds briefs, calendar generation, campaign planning, and the content editor.

Style Guide (`Context → Style Guide`) captures visual identity: logo, brand colors (primary and secondary), typography, reference images, and a homepage screenshot when available. Visual assets support consistent output and internal alignment; they complement—not replace—the verbal platform.

Both resolve per workspace website (root domain). In multi-brand accounts, each workspace with its own domain gets its own Brand Platform and Style Guide. A badge such as Brand: yourdomain.com appears when CntX needs to show which identity you are editing.

When to use

Use this guide when you:

  • Finish company, product, and audience setup and need content to sound on-brand
  • Launch a new workspace for a second brand or market
  • See empty Brand Platform or Style Guide pages after switching workspace
  • Get campaign or calendar errors asking you to resolve brand platform for a target workspace
  • Rebrand and must update tone, positioning, or visual rules before regenerating content

Complete Brand Platform before Style Guide if time is limited—tone has the highest impact on generation quality.

Before you start

  • Company context includes the correct website for this workspace.
  • On multi-workspace accounts, set the workspace website in workspace settings when the brand domain differs from the parent organization site.
  • Have messaging inputs ready: positioning doc, brand book, or at minimum a clear description of how you speak and what you never say.
  • For Style Guide automation, ensure a crawl can reach your public site (logo, colors, and fonts are often extracted from the homepage).

Steps

Part A — Brand Platform (tone and messaging)

  1. Open Context → Brand Platform. Confirm the domain badge matches the workspace you intend to edit. If you see an empty state for this domain, no platform exists yet for that brand—that is expected for new workspaces.
  1. Generate with AI or create manually.

Generate with AI — CntX synthesizes a draft from your company context, crawl data, and public signals. Review every field before saving; replace hype with durable positioning. – Create manually — Use when you already have an approved brand strategy document.

  1. Complete the verbal identity fields.

Vision — long-term direction the brand works toward. – Mission — what the organization does day to day for customers. – Positioning — how you differ in your category. – Value proposition — the core promise to buyers. – Values — principles that guide decisions and language. – Tone of voice — how content should sound (direct, expert, warm, provocative, etc.). – Include words — terms and phrases to favor. – Exclude words — jargon, competitor language, or off-brand clichés to avoid.

  1. Attach source documents (optional). On the Brand Platform detail view, use the documents panel to upload decks, messaging PDFs, or brand narratives. These enrich retrieval for generation without replacing the structured fields above.
  1. Save and re-read aloud. If a field reads like a campaign headline, rewrite it as a fact or principle your team would still endorse next quarter.

Part B — Style Guide (visual identity)

  1. Open Context → Style Guide. The page resolves visual assets for the same root domain as Brand Platform. An empty state means no style guide exists yet for this domain.
  1. Create or refresh the style guide.

– Trigger creation or crawl-based extraction when offered. A site crawl may take one to two minutes; colors, fonts, logo, and screenshot populate when sync completes. – If extraction is incomplete, upload or edit assets manually.

  1. Review visual elements.

Logo — confirm the correct file is selected when multiple versions exist. – Primary and secondary colors — check hex values against your brand book. – Fonts — verify family names match approved typography. – Images and screenshot — use as reference for visual tone; update after major site redesigns.

  1. Switch workspace to validate isolation (multi-brand accounts). Change workspace in the header, reopen Brand Platform and Style Guide, and confirm each brand shows its own domain and assets—not a sibling brand’s identity.
  1. Mark setup complete on Home. Return to Home and confirm brand-related readiness steps progress. Campaign creation for a workspace requires a resolved Brand Platform for that workspace’s domain.

Expected result

Brand Platform fields are saved for the workspace domain. Generation, briefs, and campaigns inherit tone of voice, positioning, and word preferences.

Style Guide shows logo, colors, fonts, and supporting visuals scoped to the same domain. Empty states are gone for active brands, and switching workspace never shows another brand’s platform by mistake.

Tips / common issues

  • Brand Platform drives tone; Style Guide drives look. Do not paste visual rules into tone of voice or vice versa. Generation quality depends most on mission, positioning, tone, and exclude words.
  • Durable facts over slogans. “We help finance teams close month-end in half the time” belongs in value proposition; “Innovation reimagined” does not belong anywhere in context.
  • Wrong brand after switching workspace. Verify workspace website, then regenerate or create platform for that domain. CntX no longer falls back to another brand’s record when multiple domains exist.
  • Style Guide still loading. Crawl and sync can take up to two minutes. Refresh once before re-running extraction to avoid duplicate jobs.
  • Campaign blocked on brand platform. Open Brand Platform for the target workspace, complete or generate the record, then retry campaign creation from the workspace that owns the campaign.
  • Super-admin or delegated view. If assets fail to load while viewing as another company, refresh after the session fully switches tenant context.
