Company Context, Brand & Audiences 5 min

Configure Your Company Context

Set your company profile in Context so CntX can plan, brief, and generate content that matches your business—not generic marketing copy.

Overview

Company context is the foundation of everything CntX does with your workspace. It tells the platform who you are, what you sell, who you reach, and how you speak. Without it, strategy suggestions, briefs, and AI-generated drafts lack grounding.

Context lives under Context in the sidebar. The main entry point is Company, where you maintain durable facts about your organization: name, website, description, industry, social profiles, and content URL patterns. Other context areas—Products, Audiences, Competitors, Brand Platform, and Style Guide—build on this profile.

CntX stores context per workspace. If you manage multiple brands under one organization, each workspace can hold its own website, industry, and scoped records while still sharing organization-level data when you need it.

When to use

Use this guide when you:

  • Finish onboarding and want to move beyond Context Discovery
  • Join a workspace that someone else started and need to review or complete company details
  • Rebrand, change your primary domain, or add a new workspace for a second brand
  • Notice weak or off-brand AI output and suspect missing or outdated company facts

You do not need a perfect profile on day one. A clear description and correct website are enough to start; you refine the rest as you work.

Before you start

  • You have a CntX account and access to the workspace you want to configure (Admin or Editor role; Viewers cannot edit Company settings).
  • You know your company’s public website URL and a short, factual description of what the business does.
  • If you already ran Context Discovery from Home, review what was pre-filled before saving changes.
  • For multi-workspace accounts, confirm you are on the correct workspace using the workspace switcher in the header. Company fields may show workspace-specific industry or description when they differ from the organization default.

Steps

  1. Open Context → Company. Hover or click Context in the left sidebar, then select Company. The page shows your company name, website, description, industry, logo, social network links, and content slug settings.
  1. Confirm the website URL. Enter the primary domain for this workspace (for example, `https://yourbrand.com`). CntX uses this URL to resolve brand records, run crawls, and scope Style Guide assets. In multi-brand setups, set the workspace website in Workspace settings if this workspace represents a distinct domain from the parent organization.
  1. Write a durable company description. Describe what the company does, who it serves, and what makes it credible. Prefer stable facts—market, offer, geography, business model—over campaign slogans or seasonal taglines. This text feeds strategy, audits, and generation.
  1. Set the industry. Pick the closest industry from the selector. Industry helps CntX align benchmarks, keyword suggestions, and AI context with your sector. On multi-workspace accounts, a workspace-specific industry appears with a discreet note when it overrides the organization value.
  1. Add social network profiles. Link active accounts (LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok). These support social listening and give CntX additional signals about your public presence.
  1. Configure content slugs (optional). If your site publishes content under predictable URL paths (for example `/blog/` or `/resources/`), add them so crawls and audits focus on the right sections.
  1. Run or review Context Discovery (optional). From Home, open the setup checklist or Context Discovery flow if you prefer a guided pass. Confirm extracted description and positioning, then return to Company to edit anything that looks too promotional or outdated.
  1. Save and continue building context. After Company is solid, add Products, Audiences (ICPs and Personas), Competitors, and Brand Platform from the same Context menu. Each layer makes downstream planning more accurate.
  1. Use workspace scope intentionally (multi-workspace only). On list pages such as Products or Competitors, a toggle lets you view This workspace or Entire organization. Default to the active workspace when creating records so data stays isolated per brand.

Expected result

Your Company page shows a complete, saved profile tied to the active workspace. Home setup readiness moves forward, crawls can target the correct domain, and later steps—products, audiences, brand platform, strategy—have a reliable base.

CntX treats this profile as durable context: it is reused across briefs, calendar generation, audits, and AI drafts rather than re-entered for each task.

Tips / common issues

  • Prefer facts over slogans. “We help mid-market SaaS teams reduce churn” beats “We are the future of customer success.” Generation quality improves when context reads like a brief, not a billboard.
  • Wrong brand on a multi-workspace account. If Style Guide or Brand Platform shows another domain, check the workspace website and switch workspace before editing. Each brand resolves by root domain.
  • Context Discovery overwrote organization data. When a workspace website differs from the company website, discovery writes industry and description to the workspace—not the parent company—so sibling brands stay untouched.
  • Empty AI suggestions later. If generation feels generic, return here first. A missing description or industry is the most common root cause.
  • Export for alignment. Use the PDF export on the Company page when you need to share context with agencies or internal stakeholders outside CntX.
